HarmonyOS 2.0 reached the 10 millionth device mark by early June 2021 and as per the latest report, it has already reached 100 million devices at the time of writing this.
The report confirms that Huawei has been able to upgrade 100 million devices in less than four months. The devices that were recently upgraded to the HarmonyOS platform originally ran on Android OS.
According to the statistics, Huawei devices reached 10 million units in early June 2021 followed by 70 million by the end of August this year and it reached 90 million units by early September only to shoot 10 million more in mid-September.
This is the 6th wave of Android-to-Harmony updates for beta testers causing the sudden spike in the number of devices running the latter. According to Huawei, HarmonyOS supports 106 or more devices and then there are plans to reach 300 million devices by the end of this year which doesn’t seem like a far stretch as Huawei has already attained 1/3rd of the estimated devices.
Note that these numbers are pure of those devices that have upgraded from Android to Harmony and not the ones that arrived with HarmonyOS by default. Also, these numbers reflect units in China as of now.
Out of the total 106 devices supporting HarmonyOS 2.0, 75 devices are smartphones consisting of P20, Mate 10, Mate 30, Mate 40, and P40 series among others. The list includes older devices such as Nova 4e and 5i. Apart from smartphones, the list of supported devices includes tablets, smartwatches, IoT devices, and a string of smart gadgets including TVs and laser printers. Huawei is attempting to create a massive web of interconnectivity between various HarmonyOS connected devices.
Richard Yu, the CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group said that every second, 8 new HarmonyOS 2.0 devices go live.
