Apple typically holds 3 to 4 launch events every year to showcase its huge lineup of products new iPhones to MacBooks to iMac and so on. As the year 2022 is inching closer, reports of products to be announced in next year have already mushroomed on the internet especially the latest Power On newsletter from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg that gives a peek into the various products in-line to arrive this year.
iPhone 14 Series
You can’t deny it but the iPhone’s flagship series launch event is one of the biggest in the tech world simply because it revolutionizes aspects of smartphones for a year. The iPhone 14 series will have at least three or maybe four models and it will arrive with a faster processor, slimmer bezels, and more. The iPhone 14 usually arrives in the fall between September and October and I don’t see the reason why it would launch anytime else.
iPhone SE 3
Yes, the next SE is repeatedly in the news thanks to the countless rumors doing around the phone. According to the latest bit, the iPhone SE 3 will arrive with an Apple A15 Bionic chipset from iPhone 13 and with a handsy 4.7-inch iPhone 8-ish display on-board. The iPhone SE 3 is likely to bring 5G on the table and thus, the phone could use the name iPhone SE 5G or iPhone SE 3 5G although that needs to be found out. The phone could arrive sometime in March although you need to be a little flexible with the release date as it hasn’t been confirmed just yet.
Apple Watch 8
Every year, Apple releases one version of its products. This means Apple Watch 7 will be succeeded by Apple Watch 8 to arrive in the fall of 2022. According to Gurman’s report, the Watch Series 8 is likely to arrive in three models including an Apple Watch SE and a version made for athletes with uber durability and reliability. If you have been following the tech news, Apple Watch 8 render leaked just a few days ago giving a sneak peek into the upcoming smartwatch although it should be clear that it is too early to finalize the design just yet.
Apple iMac 2022
The most powerful Mac lineup from Apple will see a change as well. I am talking about iMac and Pro is likely to get a Promotion and Mini LED display and will be powered by both M1 Pro and M1 Max processors. The base model will arrive with 512GB storage and 16GB RAM, there are dark bezels around the display, Face ID, and the design is expected to look similar to iMac 24 and iMac 24 Pro. Both the iMacs are expected to be unveiled in the first half of 2022. Note that these specifications aren’t confirmed and may change so take it with a pinch of salt.
Apple Mac Pro
Another Apple product that is reportedly getting an upgrade is the Mac pro. It is likely to get Apple Silicon under the hood with unified memory, integrated graphics, and will be powered by M1-series of chipsets. The workstation PC is slated to get a new setup with Apple Silicon that will allow as many as 40 cores with upgrades giving a price tag starting at $12,9990. To put things into perspective, the current Xeon W processor has 28-cores on Mac Pro while M1 Pro and Max support 10 cores.
New iPad Pro, Air, and iPad
When it comes to the iPad lineup, the entry-level iPad and iPad Air could see a bit of upgrade in 2022 while iPad Pro according to Gurman, is expected to get Apple Silicon treatment manufactured on a 3nm node for better performance and power efficiency.
AirPods Pro 2
Another product that gets upgraded every year is the AirPods Pro 2 which is speculated to arrive in Q3 of 2022 although the dates are yet to be confirmed. These pods will bring new additions including a boost to noise cancellation although not much is known about the upcoming AirPods Pro 2.
MacBook Air 2022
The MacBook Air 2022 is likely to get a few upgrades as well including colorful designs inspired by iMac as well as an upgraded M1 or M2 chipset to step into the Apple Silicon performance and efficiency. Apart from that, there’s no mini-LED screen on-board at least as per the news.
Apple AR and VR headsets
As Apple is making advancements in the AR and VR sector, reports suggest there’s an Apple AR headset expected to arrive in 2022. The first-gen wearable is estimated to replace the use of iPhones in a decade. These AR headsets are speculated to have dual 4K micro OLED displays. These headsets are expected to be used for communication, media, and gaming although it is something we will find out soon.
