Apple has been working on a virtual reality headset for quite some time now and reports about the same have been leaked as well. One thing we know is that the company’s first headset is all set to be launched next year.

Now, this will be in direct competition with Meta’s AR company which is known as Oculus VR. A new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reveals that the company has hired Meta’s AR communications lead as well.

This means that the launch of Apple’s VR headset is very near and that we are more than likely to see the headset get launched next year. Gurman reports that Apple has hired Andrea Schubert who was Meta’s communications and press relations lead for its AR department.

With the hiring of Andrea, Apple wants to make its market position with respect to augmented reality clear and precise. Gurman says that since Apple is expected to launch its AR headset next year, “Ahead of that launch, Apple is starting to get its ducks in a row”

We have seen reports from Bloomberg that the company has plans for two types of AR headsets. One is a device like Google Glasses which might be called Apple Glasses. And the other one is a full-fledged device.

It is also interesting to note that these AR devices from Apple will let people read text messages, emails, open Maps and also play games. This will be via a holographic display that will be inside the lens. Latest reports also suggest that these devices “will feature two 8K displays to show ultra-high resolution images”.

Now that the company has hired a PR head to lead its AR operations, it seems more than likely the headset launch from the company is getting really close. We will have to wait and watch how these devices from Apple turn out to be but we are really excited about an AR headset from Apple.
