Apple’s popular Watch SE series is getting a third-generation model this year. Yes, you heard that right. The Apple Watch SE 3 is said to be heading for global launch this year with a complete new look. The information comes from a highly credible source, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. However, Gurman has not provided any details about the design, which has ignited the imagination of fans.
A colorful plastic casing?
Going back to last September, Gurman speculated the next Apple Watch SE 3 would perhaps come with plastic casing, an idea similar to the colorful iPhone 5c. The plastic casing might also bring a pop of color to the lineup, potentially making it attractive to young customers.
However, Gurman also pointed out that the transition to plastic has cost and quality issues, so it is still uncertain if this design will make it to the final product.
Affordable yet packed with features
In terms of popularity, Apple Watch SE has always attracted those who seek value for money. In the US, it cost $249, and a current model, available since September 2022, is considered to have all the essentials without going overboard on the budget. Thus, Apple Watch SE 3 should remain within an affordable price tag but certainly better than its predecessors in certain aspects.
Performance boost with a new chip
Along with other aspects, the Apple Watch SE 3 is rumored to feature a new and powerful chip. So, the performance in terms of task executions like activity tracking, notification deliveries, and more app uses can now be ensured.
With the purported integration of new and powerful chipset, the price for the upcoming watch could increase significantly. So, budget-sensitive consumers would have to increase their budget.
Launch timeline
If Apple follows the previous launch patterns then the Apple Watch SE 3 can be expected to debut in September 2025 as part of Apple’s annual trend of unveiling their new Apple Watches during fall events. Along with Apple Watch SE 3, several other products could be announced.
