Apple unveiled its majestic iPhone SE (3rd gen) just a few weeks ago and it has already seen a production cut due to low demand as opposed to the forecast and the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. This was recently reported by Nikkei Asia quoting Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s post on the reduction in shipment forecast.

The iPhone SE 2022 has reportedly met weaker demands compared to its expensive siblings aka iPhone 13 series among others. Apple has asked its line of suppliers to curtail the production of the units this quarter by almost two to three million units.

Based on the reports, Apple iPhone SE 2022 received a lower response than what the Cupertino-based giant was expecting. Note that Apple is likely to cut back on production of the popular iPhone 13 series as well although it isn’t because of low demand (which is the opposite of what’s happening) instead, it is because of seasonal demand change. It is estimated to cut back several million units of the 13 series under the same guise.

According to Ming’s tweet, the iPhone SE shipment estimation for 2022 was 25 to 30 million units. However, it has chopped down to 15 to 20 million units this year. It’s not just the iPhone SE 2022 or the iPhone 13 series, Apple is cutting down on the production of AirPods as well, although it hasn’t provided any inputs on which model we are talking about in this context. Nikkei Asia reports that the Cupertino-based giant is axing almost 10 million units of AirPods this year. This is likely due to the old shipment in the inventory and to curb low demand as well.

Another reason that could be behind these cutbacks is due to the ongoing chip shortages, increasing inflation, the war between Ukraine and Russia among others.
