We know that Apple is making a huge transition of all of its products right now from using a third-party chipset to its own chipset. We saw that the iPhones already used Apple’s own silicon known by the A-series but they still used the 5G chips from Qualcomm.

However, the company is planning to make a transition to its own chips even with 5G for their iPhones. We also saw that the Mac lineup from Apple is switching to the M1 chipset with the launch of 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro as well as the latest 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro devices.

Also, the Mac Mini and the Mac Pro are said to be coming with the Apple M1 or M2 chips which will be much more powerful. But there is a new report from Bloomberg which states that Apple is not done with making its own chips. The company reportedly wants to make more of its own chips for its products.

It is reported that Apple wants to establish a new office in order to design its own chips and these are the chips that Apple currently sources from companies like Broadcom and Skyworks. The report adds that these chips are “semiconductors for connecting to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi” as well as “wireless radios, radio-frequency integrated circuits and a wireless system-on-a-chip,”

Basically, Apple was already developing the CPU and GPU that powers its products along with the plans for its 5G chips that provide connectivity. Now, the company also wants to design radio chips that help in Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity.

In short, the company is trying to take full control over its products and the manufacturing process related to it which must be due to the delays in the manufacturing of iPhones and other products that we have seen right now.

It is reported that this new office from Apple for designing the radio signal chips will not be in Silicon Valley which makes sense because the offices of Broadcom and Skyworks are also not in the Silicon Valley. It is said that Apple wants to lure the people who do not want to work in Silicon Valley.

Apple’s plans are to switch to its own 5G modems for the iPhones as early as by 2023 which means that the company might have full control over its product’s manufacturing process by that time.
