We have seen that the best email service provider in the market right now is Gmail which is from Google. And we know that Google’s main business is advertising meaning that ads will be available everywhere. Same is the case with Gmail since the company has started to show ads on the platform and it also outsources the user interests and data to show them personalized advertisements.

But this is not accepted by everyone and many users have stopped using the platform due to this reason. Therefore, we have seen privacy-focused email services pop up vouching to not sell user data.

The latest service in this list is Hey which is from the founders of the project management tool named BaseCamp. From looking at Hey, the email service does look like a breath of fresh air and a new take on how email works. For example, you have unique names for boring categories too such as “Imbox” instead of Inbox. There are other features such as “The Feed”, “Paper Trail”, “Reply Later”, “Set Aside” and “All Files”.

There is also a unique screening feature inside Hey which lets you screen first-time email senders and only if you approve them will the email land in your “Imbox” or else they will be discarded. Also, the email senders will be blocked meaning you won’t hear from them ever again.

BaseCamp CEO and founder says that “The last time I think anyone was really excited about email was like 16 years ago when Gmail launched,”. “Not much has changed since then. … We’re trying to bring some new philosophical points of view.” So if some of the features we have mentioned above interest you then we are sure Hey will be a good choice for you.

However, there is a slight problem for those who want all these features but also love the one thing about Gmail which is that it is free. With Hey, you will have to pay a price of $99/year in order to use the service.

Also, this service is invite-only till July so you will have to find someone who has an invite to try out Hey and have a look at it with the 14-day trial. The best part is that you get a fresh Hey.com email account with names that are already occupied on Gmail meaning your email address will be unique to you.
