When Apple introduced Siri to the world, we never thought Amazon would come up with a similar product. Fast forward to 2018, we now have smart speakers from the multinational e-commerce company, which, while being powered by Amazon Alexa, dominate the industry.
We already have Google Assistant on all Android phones, Siri on iPhones and Macs, Cortana on Windows computers, and Bixby on Samsung devices. Do you really want another one? If you think you do, Amazon is here with their Alexa on your Windows 10 PC.
Amazon Alexa debuts on Windows 10 computers this year
Consumer Electronics Show 2018, Las Vegas has got multiple products under its belt. In the same event, we recently got to see notebooks with Amazon Alexa running on them. Many top tier manufacturers aim at releasing laptops and desktop systems with built-in Alexa alongside Microsoft’s own Cortana.
Going by the information we got, the online marketplace giant has teamed up with Acer, HP, Lenovo, and Asus. Selected systems from these manufacturer will have Alexa on it alongside Microsoft’s in-house Cortana.
Acer has released a press release today (08-01-2018) stating that they will make Alexa available on Aspire, Spin, Switch, and Swift notebook models as well as Aspire all-in-one PCs. They will rollout Alexa via a software update through Acer Care Centre. You can expect the wider availability by mid-2018. According to Acer, the voice assistant can offer you hands-free experience in many circumstances.
HP even launched a special laptop for Alexa. Dubbed as HP Pavilion Wave, it sports Intel Smart Sound Technology, 16 GB RAM, and of course, pre-loaded Cortana.
Going by a report from Thurrott.com, Asus and Lenovo are also building new Windows systems to bring the wider possibility of Amazon Alexa to their customers. You need to bear in mind that Amazon integrated more than 25 thousand skills whereas Microsoft only has 300 of them.
