- A new leak suggests Apple's foldable iPhone prototype features a 5.49-inch cover display and a 7.74-inch inner screen, similar to the Pixel Fold.
- Apple was previously rumored to be working on a 20-inch foldable device, making this a shift toward a more compact design.
- The prototype’s details remain scarce, but a potential launch could happen next year.
Apple likely has a few prototypes up its sleeves when it comes to its first foldable iPhone. We have been hearing about them from various angles and tipster alike. We all know the Cupertino-based giant is working on a foldable device as the leaks have been all around the place. However, the latest update from a reputed tipster says the device could resemble the Google Pixel Fold with comparable screen sizes.
Apple’s Cooking Up It’s First Foldable iPhone
According to Digital Chat Station, Apple currently has multiple foldable prototypes in place. The latest one has a 5.49” cover display and a 7.74” inner primary display. If this is true, it puts Apple in the same plane as the Google Pixel Fold or Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series that embraces book-style foldable units.
Why I found this surprising because Apple has always maintained working on a giant 20-inch foldable iPhone (or that’s what I would call a foldable iPad). The latest screen sizes offer a breakthrough in what we would call actually an iPhone Fold in the works. Unfortunately, the tip says nothing except the screen sizes which means, we don’t know any other aspect of the device be it the aspect ratio, bezels, width, etc.
Moving on, if this turns out to be true, the aforementioned book-styled foldable iPhone prototypes would stand a bit smaller than the original Google Pixel Fold which is at 8” and the upcoming Oppo Find N5 which is likely to embrace an even larger display once it arrives in China and globally.
In any case, Apple iOS apps are capable of playing on varying phone sizes and thus, there won’t be any compatibility issues once Apple decides to roll out a foldable phone of XYZ dimensions. In any case, we are looking for a potential launch sometime next year that eventually gives us a lot of time to think and ponder while Apple does its work behind the scenes.
