With the Galaxy S9 series already launched, it’s time for the next Samsung flagship for 2018. While we already have an idea what the next smartphone in the Galaxy Note family will be called, Samsung has just confirmed the name “Note 9” via an official filing. The South Korean major is expected to launch the Galaxy Note 9 in August or September this year, like the previous Note phones.

Samsung has filed for registering a trademark in Colombia for its brand name “Note9”. For what it’s worth, the filing at least confirms the presence of a Note series smartphone for 2018. No more details have been revealed by the Application which was filed on March 12. It includes Samsung headquarters’ address to further authenticate the information. Along with the Note 9 trademark, more registrations for other Samsung devices can also be seen in one of the included images.

As one would expect, the Galaxy Note 9 will feature a stylus which has been empowered by Samsung to perform multiple productivity tasks more efficiently. While the stylus has improved significantly over the past few iterations, the Galaxy Note 8 got the new Infinity Display. Samsung was earlier expected to introduce under-display fingerprint scanner to the Galaxy Note 9, but some of the recent reports have suggested otherwise.

What’s obvious is the fact that the Galaxy Note 9 will be a flagship smartphone that will feature top of the line specifications. Similar to the Galaxy S9 series, it is expected to come powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor or Exynos 9810 paired with at least 6GB of RAM, while still retaining its rear placed dual-camera setup. A foldable smartphone from Samsung is also in toe, which will probably launch early next year as Galaxy X.
