Google AI Mode is Official in India
Google released its AI Mode to some of its users in the US as an experiment feature in Labs. Based on a custom version of Gemini 2.5, Google AI Mode allows users to ask large and complex questions that can often be multilayered, thereby changing the way how we make Google searches.
Unlike running a usual Google Search, the search-oriented ‘AI Mode’ allows users to ask multifaceted and multilayered questions at once. For instance, instead of running different searches to know the species of a plant, how to grow, where to grow, etc., the feature lets users ask these questions framed in just one question such as “What is this species of plant (pic), how do I grow it and where can I grow it if I stay in Mumbai or Dubai, depending upon the weather conditions and specific resources”.
According to Google’s Blog, Google Search AI Mode works by running “query fan-out technique” where it breaks down the complex questions into subtopics, running individual searches, and compiling all the results into an easy-to-understand manner. Unlike most other generative AI programs, AI Mode users real-time sources from Knowledge Graph, AI Overviews, billions of products available under shopping, and beyond, to find appropriate responses.
Post that, users can ask follow-up questions such as “What if the plant is not growing as expected and how to ensure proper ventilation when stored in a closed room?”, among others.
