- Google Pixel Watch 4 announced at the Made by Google event.
- It features Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 SoC and brings a higher battery life up to 40 hours with AOD.
- In India, it arrives at INR 39,900/- for the non-LTE variant while the LTE variant in the US costs approximately the same, making the watches expensive in India.
We covered the entire Made by Google event here on True-Tech. Apart from Pixel phones, we saw Google Pixel Watch 4 and Google Pixel Buds 2a make their debut at the event, and it was epic. I mean, every year, we get to see something better than before, and this year is no exception. We have a better display, longer battery life, and higher performance on the Pixel Watch 4 while throwing a much affordable TWS into the mix with a few upgrades on-board. Here’s our take on the duo.
Google Pixel Watch 4 takes the center stage at Made by Google
Presenting the Google Pixel Watch 4, the next-gen smartwatch from Google. You can choose between 41mm and 45mm, and with 1.2” and 1.4” of display sizes, respectively. Google has upgraded both these Actua 360 displays that now beat at up to 3,000 nits just like Pixel 10 phones, while matching the flagships from Google, and yes, better visibility outdoors.
The watch is powered by the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 SoC, as the name suggests, this is the successor to the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 that the previous series was built on. The new chipset unlocks more internal space while adding a pinch more performance to the watches.
We have seen an increase in the battery capacity as well. The 41mm model now has a 327mAh battery pack (compared to 307mAh on Pixel Watch 3), while the 45mm variant goes up by 39mAh to a giant 459mAh battery pack. Overall, the watches are advertised to deliver 30 hours and 40 hours of battery life with AOD on a single charge. Exactly how it all pans out, we will get to witness that soon when the watch lands in our hands for a hands-on experience.
What’s best about the Google Pixel Watch 4 is the fact that it is now “Gemini-ready”. Yes, raise your wrist and speak to Gemini, one of the smartest AI assistants out there. While this might raise some eyebrows, I like it better than ChatGPT in many functions. Anyway, Pixel Watch 4 gives you access to health tracking, sport tracking up to 40 exercises, there’s HRV monitoring, breathing rate, SpO2, and ECG built-in.
Just like the Pixel 10 series, you get Moonstone, Porcelain, and Obsidian as the colorways. This is for the Active bands while the Sports band gives you access to Iris, Limoncello, and Indigo colorways. Try Indigo as pictured here. I liked that a lot, but it’s subjective. Google says they are using a new material for its Active band that perhaps makes it more comfortable.
Google Pixel Watch 4 can talk to satellites now
Although the title might be a bit of clickbait, what I meant was, Google Pixel Watch 4 is the first-ever smartphone offers emergency satellite communications. Limited to Pixel 4 LTE, the feature powered by Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 allows users to communicate to geo-stationary satellites when they need help. It is what you need when you are stuck in a location off the grid.
Google Pixel Watch 4 pricing in India and the US
Google Pixel Watch 4 pricing starts at $349 in the US for the 41mm non-LTE variant; the 41mm LTE variant will cost you $399. Thinking of buying a bigger 45mm variant, the non-LTE variant will cost you $399, while the LTE variant will cost $449.
For the Indian market, the 41mm Wi-Fi is priced at INR 39,900/-, and the 45mm Wi-Fi variant is at INR 43,900/-. The LTE variants of the Pixel Watch 4 are not available in India, but you can already see the price difference, making the Pixel Watch 4 a costly affair in India.
For comparison, the LTE versions of Pixel Watch 4 cost INR 39,900/- and INR 43,400/- for 41mm and 45mm, respectively, when converted from USD to INR. Of course, you can see for yourself that the non-LTE variants in India are priced a bit higher.
