On 31st of March, 2017, Reliance Jio telecom introduced a new offer called the Summer Surprise offer, which allowed users to gain another 3 months of free 4G LTE connection by subscribing to Jio Prime and buying a minimum of Rs. 303 recharge. And if the user chooses a higher plan, they will have the respective amount of internet at FUP, for example, users that topped up with the Rs. 303 offer, they receive 1GB of daily FUP, whilst users on the Rs. 499 plan receive a 2GB daily FUP for 3 months, followed by another month for which they paid. This scheme renders Jio as the cheapest wireless 4G LTE network in the market providing 1GB at a rate of Rs. 2.55. However, the offer has been withdrawn for now.

Yesterday, Jio officially mentioned in a press statement that they are planning to completely abide by TRAI’s notice, which advised Jio to halt the Summer Surprise offer. Therefore, through a media release, Jio has withdrawn the offer completely. Despite people perceiving it as an act of swindling, Jio is actually committed to offering the connection to users that have already purchased the membership, but not offer it to new users. Nonetheless, there is still a chance for customers to avail the benefits of the Summer Surprise offer.

Today, April 7th, 2017, is the last day for customers to purchase the Prime membership and recharge for any plans that they wish to enjoy for the Summer Surprise. The offer can be availed before 11:59 PM today (April 7th, 2017), and users that wish to continue using Jio’s services with the Summer Surprise offer are advised to pull off a recharge as soon as possible, and before the day ends.
