Huawei, the company you’ve normally known for releasing some of the best budget-oriented smartphones, has now teased a video on YouTube about its new fast charging tech. The tech was created by the Huawei Watt Lab and the company claims that it can charge phone batteries 10 times faster than a typical battery would.
A 2-min video was released on YouTube showcasing the whole setup. Huawei had already teased the same tech before in 2015 and they are teasing it again in 2018 yet again, which may lead to a possible launch with MWC 2018 closing in.
According to Huawei, the quick charging tech can refill a battery up to 48% in just 5 minutes! They also claim that once the battery is charged to 48% it can provide 10-hour talk time.
Huawei, in 2015, posted two videos showcasing a 600mAh battery charging to 68 percent in under 2 minutes, and the other one with a 3000mAh battery was charged to 48 percent in five minutes. The video which was released earlier this week seems to be the second video and has been included below.
There is a small twist in the tale. The video clearly shows us that the quick charging tech is an external device and to charge your batteries you need to remove them and plug into the device to move further. Nowadays, every smartphone comes with a non-removable battery especially the devices sold by Huawei itself like the Honor 7x and the recently launched Honor 9 Lite. Is this pointing towards a possible comeback for the removable battery era, I hope so.

Watt Labs eyes at a technical development to support a better-connected world with the help of sufficient energy and this just blends in. Huawei might introduce this new technology at the MWC 2018 in Barcelona and we hope to get more answers on the tech itself. With the possibility that Huawei’s tech isn’t ready to be implemented within a smartphone just yet, we might get to see a concept before it’s finally launched.
