  • Huawei MateBook Fold ULTIMATE DESIGN features the world’s largest commercial foldable laptop screen with dual-layer LTPO OLED and adaptive refresh rate.
  • Seamlessly connects with over 2,000 ecosystem apps and multiple Huawei devices including phones, tablets, and smartwatches.
  • Weighs just 1.16 kg with a 7.3 mm ultra-thin profile and durable basalt water drop hinge design.

Huawei has officially unveiled the Huawei MateBook Fold ULTIMATE DESIGN, the company’s first-ever foldable OLED laptop running HarmonyOS 5. Announced during a product launch event in China, the MateBook Fold sets a new benchmark in design, connectivity, and innovation by featuring the world’s largest foldable commercial PC display.

A breakthrough in foldable display technology

The centerpiece of the MateBook Fold ULTIMATE DESIGN is its 18-inch double-layer LTPO OLED screen, which can be folded down to a 13-inch miniature. When unfolded, there is a 3.3K resolution (3296 × 2472 pixels) to enjoy, peak HDR brightness of 1600 nits, contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1, and a 92% screen-to-body ratio. The display also has adaptive refresh rates supported.

According to Huawei, this is the first commercial laptop to adopt LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) display technology, enabling a 30% improvement in energy efficiency compared to traditional OLED screens.

Innovative hinge and cooling system

The MateBook Fold has a unique hinge from Huawei called the basalt water drop hinge. It’s designed in three parts to be strong and accurate. This makes the laptop fold smoothly with almost no crease, so it feels comfortable to use both open and closed.

For thermal management, the laptop includes ultra-thin diamond aluminum dual fans (just 3.5 mm thick) and a 28W performance release system. Leveraging antigravity vapor chamber (VC) cooling technology, the device ensures consistent performance in various usage modes.

HarmonyOS 5 powers a unified ecosystem

The MateBook Fold ULTIMATE DESIGN is the first Huawei laptop to run on HarmonyOS 5, a step further in integration within the ecosystem of Huawei. HarmonyOS 5 allows seamless connectivity with smartwatches, smartphones, tablets, large screens, and wireless earbuds.

Huawei claims the OS currently supports over 150 PC-exclusive applications, with more than 1,000 ecosystem apps adapted and 2,000 optimized for cross-device usage. This ecosystem-first approach aims to deliver a consistent user experience across devices.
