- Instagram AI Creator Label helps users identify accounts that regularly post AI-generated or AI-assisted content.
- The label appears across profiles, posts, and discovery sections, improving transparency without affecting reach.
- The feature is currently in testing, with a wider rollout expected in the coming weeks.
Meta is experimenting with a new “Instagram AI Creator label” to make it clearer when accounts regularly share AI-generated or AI-assisted content. As artificial intelligence tools become more common in content creation, the platform appears to be taking a more structured approach to disclosure.
What the Instagram AI Creator label means for users
The “AI creator” label is a way to signal that an account frequently relies on AI tools. When turned on, the label appears in several visible areas across the platform. Users may see it in the profile bio, beneath the username on posts and Reels, and across discovery sections like Feed, Reels, and Explore.

If a particular post also qualifies for an “AI info” label, Instagram selects that content-specific tag instead. It ensures viewers get the most direct and relevant context when engaging with a post.
How Creators can enable the feature
For those included in the test, enabling the feature is quite simple. Creators can enable the label by heading to their profile settings, tapping “Edit profile,” and switching on the “AI creator” toggle.
Once enabled, the label applies automatically across the account and its content. This removes the need to manually label each post, and it makes the process more consistent and less time-consuming.

Focus remains on transparency, not performance
Instagram has clarified that this feature doesn’t affect content visibility. Turning on the “AI creator” label will not affect how posts are ranked, distributed, or recommended.
Instead, the goal is transparency. By offering clearer signals about how content is made, Meta Platforms will help users better understand what they are seeing without penalizing creators who use AI tools.

Gradual rollout currently underway
At this stage, the feature is only available to a limited number of users. Instagram plans to expand access gradually, using feedback from early testers to refine how the label works in general.
