Just a few days after the first public beta arrived, Apple is back again with iOS 18.1 public beta 2. Coupled with a tonne of Apple Intelligence features, the new update brings us even closer to what the official release will look like next month. The same can be seen across the Apple ecosystem aka iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia as well.

iOS 18.1 Public Beta 2 and Arsenal of Features

Talking about what’s in it for iOS 18.1 Public Beta 2, there’s a lot to talk about but of course, we will summarize it.

For starters, Siri is improving with a Type-to-Siri function that lets you complete queries by typing instead of just voice commands. Siri can follow along with the user and understand the context of the queries in case the speaker stumbles over the words.

A new recording calls feature is active across iOS 18 iPhones and additionally, iPhone 15 Pro and later will get call summaries in their Notes app. These summaries are basically based on your calls and discussions made during the call summarized into text all using Apple Intelligence (AI).

We now can write, rewrite, proofread, and summarize as we go on writing across Apple’s family of apps as well as supported third-party apps. There are priority notifications on-board that don’t let too much of notifications steer you away from the ones that require your immediate attention. Moreover, these notifications can be summarized giving you the ability to scan them faster.

iOS 18.1 is getting better as it inches closer to its official launch. The next feature that we saw on Beta 1 is Focus Mode which uses AI to understand the contents of the notifications and showcases it. For instance, it could be a text about picking up your child from the daycare and that’s all without losing such important texts in the middle of other unwanted notifications.

A new feature called ‘Clean Up’ is now available on iOS 18.1 Public Beta 2 which uses AI to remove unwanted objects in the background of your photos. It is a much cleaner way to look at your photos without distractions and that’s all without changing the subject of the photos. These were only a handful of AI features that highlight the upcoming public beta 2. Watch out for more updates about iOS 18 right here.
