September 2024 is going to be huge as Apple is preparing for a massive iPhone 16 Series launch. Anticipating huge demand, especially in a buzzing market like India, Apple’s major manufacturer Foxconn has ramped up production.

In fact, it has added another 50,000 workers at its Zhengzhou factory in China as a response to a broader strategy to streamline production and ensure the timely release of the upcoming iPhone 16 series. Foxconn’s Zhengzhou factory is considered as an “iPhone City” as it is responsible for more than 80% of iPhone production globally.

According to reports, Foxconn has reportedly increased both base pay and bonuses in order to attract new workers. A social media post suggests Foxconn is offering an hourly wage of 25 yuan plus 7,500 yuan as a bonus compared to the 6,000 yuan that was offered in June.

Apple is expected to produce 90 million-plus units of iPhone 16 as per a Bloomberg report according to a previous report posted in June with the mass production starting earlier last month. For context, this is 10% more than last year’s production was capped at 81 million units of the iPhone 15 series.

A couple of reasons are reportedly behind anticipated demand including Apple Intelligence (AI) on-board iPhone 16, although it remains to be seen whether Apple is able to cope with the already buzzing AI features that other OEMs offer (say Galaxy AI). Apart from that, Apple is finally moving to 8GB RAM base variants across the iPhone 16 series citing the minimum requirements to be able to cope with Apple AI.

Foxconn is currently upgrading its production capacities across its factory in India as well which is likely to produce the iPhone 16 Pro series, the first for the Pro series of iPhones.

About the release date, there’s a lot of buzz around September 10 when Apple could potentially hold its iPhone 16 series launch in line with last year’s iPhone 15 series (September 10) since it is a Tuesday.
