Apple is reportedly working on significant upgrades for its 20th anniversary iPhone, especially in terms of display. The iPhone 20 Pro display sizes and some other exciting parts have surfaced in a new leak. The information comes from a reputable Chinese leaker, Digital Chat Station (DCS), who claims that the company is testing larger OLED panels for the iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max, along with a revamped display design that would give a fresh look to the upcoming iPhones.
iPhone 20 Pro display specifications leaked
According to Digital Chat Station, the upcoming iPhone 20 Pro may boast a 6.41-inch display. On the other hand, the iPhone 20 Pro Max might offer a 6.96-inch panel (almost a 7-inch big display). Both models are reportedly being tested with 2686 x 1236 pixels (iPhone 20 Pro) and 2912 x 1340 pixels (iPhone 20 Pro Max) display resolution, respectively.
For comparison, the iPhone 18 Pro features a 6.27-inch display with a 2622 x 1206 pixel resolution. While the iPhone 18 Pro Max measures 6.86 inches and offers a 2868 x 1320 pixel resolution.
If we compare the numbers with the recently launched iPhone 18 Pro series, the difference is very clear. If the leak turns accurate, it would make the 20th-anniversary iPhone lineup the biggest display-size iPhone yet.
What else is cooking
As per the aforementioned details, Apple is likely to keep a pixel density of 460 pixels per inch, similar to the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. If the company maintains a similar density, it would enable Apple to increase the panel’s physical dimensions without compromising anything.
Another notable upgrade could be a borderless quad-curved display. Yes, that’s right! Apple is said to be working on an iPhone that will give consumers all four sides a curved display feel.
Other than the display itself, the company may be making things even more thrilling. Apple is experimenting with a technique to hide its Face ID/front camera component beneath the display. However, Digital Chat Station happened to reveal something in a different direction. The leaker notes that Apple is bringing a smaller punch-hole-style opening instead of an under-display camera.
iPhone 20 series could debut in 2027
Although it’s too early to predict the iPhone 20 series launch timeline, industry insiders and rumors suggest that Apple might skip the iPhone 19 series and move directly from the iPhone 18 lineup to the iPhone 20 lineup. The move is expected to be similar to what the company did about ten years ago by skipping the iPhone 9 series and launching the iPhone X in 2017.
