Following the introduction of the company’s robot lineup a year ago, LG Electronics will be unveiling three more work robots at CES 2018. These three new concept robots have been specifically developed for commercial use at hotels, airports and supermarkets.
As part of LG’s new CLOi (pronounced KLOH-ee) robot brand, there will be three types of robots – the Serving Robot, Porter Robot, and Shopping Cart Robot, that will follow the footsteps of the Airport Guide Robot and the Airport Cleaning Robot. The Airport Guide Robot and the Airport Cleaning Robot had recently completed successful trial runs at Korea’s Incheon International Airport.
1. The CLOi Serving Robot
The CLOi Serving Robot will deliver meals and drinks to guests and customers at hotels and airport lounges quickly and efficiently. The robot can deliver food or refreshments round the clock. It has a built-in sliding tray, which it will present to the customer for easy removal. Once the delivery is confirmed, it will get back on its own.
2. The CLOi Porter Robot
The CLQi Porter Robot is designed to deliver luggage to guests’ rooms. The Porter Robot cuts down all the inconvenience, that may be the result of slow service. The Porter Robot can also handle express check-in and check-out service and take care of payment. This will be helpful for busy guests who want to check out fast and have their luggage delivered.
3. The CLOi Shopping Cart Robot
The CLOi Shopping Cart Robot will improve the shopping experience at premium supermarkets. The Shopping Cart Robot can scan items using the barcode reader to check product prices and see their complete shopping list on the face display. It also works as a guide, as it can be mapped to located specific products as selected by the customers on the smartphone app.
Commenting on this new announcement, Ryu Hye-Jung, Head of the Smart Solution Business Division of LG’s Home Appliance & Air Solutions Company said, “As an important part of our future growth engine, LG is committed to expanding its portfolio of robots that can deliver real convenience and innovation in our customers’ lives.” He also added, “We will continue to develop a wide range of products across commercial and home robots while seeking new opportunities to contribute to the advancement of the robotics industry.”
