Tecno has another offering for this month as well. The Tecno Pova Slim 5G has been confirmed to arrive on September 4th as the world’s slimmest 3D curved display phone. It could be rivaling the iPhone 17 Air, given its thickness is just 5.75mm, whereas the latter is 5.5mm in thickness.

The phone is expected to feature a 6.78” OLED 144Hz panel, a powerful 5,200mAh battery, and a 50MP primary snapper that sits on the rear panel. The phone is using something called “Dynamic Mood Light,” which is an LED light that comes to life when signaling notifications, phone calls, or other alerts.

The phone was earlier teased as the Spark Slim concept phone at the MWC held in February this year. This would be its first-ever debut in the Indian market, which makes it stand out.

Apple iPhone 17 Series

Release Date: September 9

iPhone 17 Pro

I am quite sure that whenever you think about smartphones launching in September, you’ll think about a new iPhone in the market. Well, this year is no different. We have the iPhone 17 series launching this month, comprising one non-Pro and two Pro iPhone 17 variants. There’s also a fourth model — iPhone 17 Air that we will get to in a bit.

iPhone 17 series will debut at the awe-dropping event, and there are some sizable upgrades. The trio will get an all-powered A19 Bionic series SoC, where the base model gets A19, while the Pro variants will get A19 Pro, which should put the devices way ahead of their predecessor. There’s a 48MP telephoto shooter on the Pro with 3.5x optical zoom and up to 8x on the Pro Max.

Interestingly, the Pro Max is expected to exceed the mark of 5,000mAh on the battery pack, which is an accomplishment, especially for Apple. For context, the base iPhone 17 uses a 3,600mAh battery pack paired with 25W wireless and 33W wired charging, and with a 120Hz refresh rate, the first for a base iPhone.

When I say iPhone 17 series, it actually has four instead of five models. Apparently, the ‘Plus’ was scrapped to make way for the iPhone 17 Air. There’s also an iPhone 17e in the works, but it will be reserved for launch early next year.

Apple iPhone 17 Air

Release Date: September 9

I know, it should be listed under ‘iPhone 17 series’, right? But hey, Apple is doing something unique this year, and we wanted it to be a highlight. So as it stands, iPhone 17 Air will be launched on September 9 and will be the slimmest iPhone ever. To be honest, a bunch of rumors exist claiming iPhone 17 Air is this or that, and yet, we are waiting for something concrete, and seriously, we won’t have to wait much longer.

iPhone 17 Air is speculated to pack in a 2,900mAh battery, one of the first signs you would see on a slim phone standing at just 5.5mm, and that comes from tipster Majin Bu, compared to ~8.25mm on the iPhone 17 Pro. In any case, iPhone 17 Air will arrive either in an aluminum or titanium chassis and will sport a 6.7” display, a few millimeters down from iPhone 17 Pro Max’s 6.9”. The phone, in line with the Pro series, will get an Apple A19 Pro Bionic SoC under the hood, so yes, there won’t be any performance issues at least.

Lava Agni 4

Release Date: September 2025*

Lava Agni 4

Believe it or not, Lava has been intensifying its launches recently. After Agni 3, the Indian smartphone maker is roping in Agni 4 for its debut in the country sometime this month. We have a Dimensity 8350 SoC under the hood paired with a 7,000mAh battery, a 6.78” FHD+ 120Hz display, and dual 50MP shooters at the back.

According to tipster Yogesh Brar, Agni 4 is likely to bring flat edges, unlike its predecessor. A UFS 4.0 storage system is on board for faster data transfer. Finally, the phone will be priced around INR 25,000/-, which goes in line with how Agni 3 was priced at INR 20,999/- for the base and INR 24,999/- for the top variant.

Conclusion

Well, we covered some of the most-awaited launches this year. I mean, we have been hearing about the iPhone 17 series for quite some time, and in fact, the iPhone 17 Air received more attention than the actual flagship series, and for good reasons. There’s an affordable Samsung Galaxy S25 (FE) as well, while a ton of other phones are making their debut.

Tecno is ready to unleash its MWC Spark Slim in India, one of the slimmest at 5.75mm, while there are some other minor launches in the pipeline. We set our hands on the list of smartphones launching in September 2025 so that you can make decisions whether to invest in a new phone or wait for yet another month to come by.
