At the India Dimensity Summit, MediaTek officially launched its latest flagship mobile processor, MediaTek Dimensity 8450 5G, featuring major advancements in AI computing, mobile gaming, imaging, and 5G connectivity. The summit also celebrated the one-year anniversary of MediaTek Connect.
All-big core architecture powers next-level performance
The MediaTek Dimensity 8450 5G, built on TSMC’s advanced 4 nm process, introduces an “All Big Core” CPU setup. It packs eight Arm Cortex-A725 cores and is paired with a Mali-G720 MC7 GPU. According to MediaTek, this new design delivers up to 30% better performance and power efficiency compared to the previous generation.
Dimensity 8450 5G is built to handle demanding tasks like gaming, high-quality photography, and AI features. It uses the powerful NPU 880 and the new Agentic AI Engine to support things like large language models and on-device generative AI, giving users faster and smarter performance.
Enhanced AI and imaging capabilities
For mobile creators and streamers, the Dimensity 8450 brings helpful new tools. Its Dual EIS Engine keeps 4K60 HDR (HLG) video steady, even during movement. Meanwhile, the Live Broadcast Booster uses AI to sharpen facial details during livestreams, and it does it while using 7% less power than older full-frame AI methods.
The Imagiq 1080 ISP supports advanced imaging features, including in-sensor zoom with QPD remozaic, zero-lag HDR, and full-pixel autofocus (100% PDAF). The chip can process camera sensors up to 320MP.
Gaming and connectivity upgrades
Gaming performance gets a boost with HyperEngine MAGT 3.0, which improves touch responsiveness and optimizes the handoff between 5G and Wi-Fi for smoother gameplay. Display support includes WQHD+ resolution at up to 144Hz, with dual-screen capabilities for foldable and multitasking-focused devices.
In terms of connectivity, the chipset features a 5G Sub-6GHz modem with 3CC Carrier Aggregation, enabling download speeds up to 5.17Gbps. It also includes Wi-Fi 6E with 2T2R (two-transmit, two-receive) antennas, Bluetooth 5.4, and UltraSave 3.0+, MediaTek’s advanced power-saving suite.
