Meizu 22 has the world’s thinnest bezels (alleged). This is perhaps what the Chinese smartphone maker is claiming after a challenge with its research and development (R&D) team was successful. It teased the upcoming phone, but it shares a lot of traits with Meizu 21, the predecessor, launched in November 2023. Here’s what the buzz is all about.
Get ready for Meizu 22 and the thinnest bezels in the market
According to Meizu’s social networking handle on Weibo, its upcoming flagship, dubbed Meizu 22, will have the thinnest bezels on the screen. It is said to measure just 1.2mm as a result of an internal challenge picked up by its R&D team. They used a ‘self-developed LIPO process’ that made it possible to reach a phenomenal thickness of just 1.2mm.
Meizu says they have used a complex 6-layer processing costing more (ultimately because of a higher defective rate) in order to develop the narrowest white panel process. It wasn’t a flock, but rather a concentrated effort after a series of trials and failures until the makers reached this phenomenal bezel thickness.
There’s a phone’s picture attached to its Weibo post that paints a slightly different story. Apparently, we don’t see any changes between Meizu 22 and 21 when it comes to the design, although we still have some time to figure out what has changed and what has not.

Meizu 22 specs haven’t been officially announced yet; however, that hasn’t stopped tipsters from tipping, right?
Meizu 22 brings a beefy 5,500mAh battery, a periscope telephoto cam on board, and will be powered by last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. The Chinese maker is expected to put imaging at the core of its upcoming devices, and the 22 series won’t be any different. We don’t have any dates for now, but there’s a strong chance Meizu 22 will arrive sometime in August 2025.
