Motorola hasn’t been the keenest manufacturer when it comes to the software updates, especially after the Lenovo acquisition. They delayed the updates in the past and even stopped giving them altogether. However, it seems they want to eliminate this bad reputation.
We have seen two variants of Moto X4 – regular and Android One. The company had rolled out a software update to the Android One variant recently. They don’t want to end things there. Now, the Oreo update is available for the standard Moto X4 as well.
Android 8.0 Update is Available for Moto X4 Now
Not only does the latest update change the software version to Android Oreo, but it also brings the security patch to December 1, 2017. The update has just started rolling out worldwide. Though you may not be able to get your hands on it at the moment, it will reach your phone soon.
The update weighs around 1 GB and carries the build number OPW 27.2. Not to mention, you will see all the Oreo-exclusive features, including picture in picture, smart text, auto-fill, and notification dots, once you finish updating the software.
You can see the official changelog of the Moto X4 Oreo update below.
- Android 8.0 Oreo: Many enhancements including new multitasking features, security capabilities, improved notifications, and performance.
- Android security: Includes the updates of Android security patches until December 1st, 2017.
- Stability improvements: Includes changes that fix bugs and improve the stability of your phone.
It is commendable to see Motorola pushing a quick software update before the year ends provided the company’s reputation. In case you wonder where’s the update for your Moto device, you should wait as it arrives to your phone soon. The company promised they would release Android Oreo for Moto G5S Plus, Moto Z2 Play, Moto G5S, Moto G5, Moto G5 Plus, and Moto E4 Plus. They didn’t announce the time-frame when the update goes live though.
