Motorola Edge just got an update. We are talking about the third-gen Motorola Edge (2022) that has been announced in the mid-range series offering a Dimensity 1050 SoC under the hood along with a 144Hz OLED panel. The device comes right after the 2020 and 2021 models and will be available in the US in a single colorway. Here’s more information about the same.

Motorola Edge (2022) Pricing and Availability

Note that the Motorola Edge (2022) has been spotted on Motorola’s US website only with its European or global launch under wrap at the time of writing this. Information about its pricing remains a mystery as well.

Motorola Edge (2022) Specifications & More

The Motorola Edge (2022) brings onboard a Dimensity 1050 SoC making it the first device to offer this chipset. Built on a 6nm node, the SoC supports mmWave 5G, it has a max frequency of 2.5GHz with its Cortex-A78 CPU cores along with Mali-G610 MC3 graphics units to bring onboard. Again, this is a mid-range SoC and nothing comparable to Dimensity 9000 SoC.

Moving on, we have 8GB RAM along with 256GB of internal storage which cannot be expanded any further. We have Android 12 with My UX which is way lighter than any of the custom UIs out there. Additionally, Motorola devices get updates proactively so Motorola Edge (2022) won’t be any different.

The device uses a 6.6” OLED panel with 1080×2400 pixels resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and a 20:9 aspect ratio. There’s a 10-bit panel along with HDR10+ support. Motorola’s switch to using an OLED panel allowed it to integrate an under-the-display fingerprint scanner as well.

Talking about the powertrain under the hood, we have a 5,000mAh battery paired alongside a 30W TurboPower charge which is similar to last year’s speeds although here, wireless charging has been introduced at 15W.

Finally, the optics onboard Motorola Edge (2022) are up to the point as well. You get a triple rear camera setup arranged in a vertical stack. There’s a 50MP primary snapper with OIS, a 120° FoV 13MP ultrawide snapper, and a depth sensor as well. You can shoot up to 4K@60fps using the rear ring. The front, on the other hand, has a 32MP snapper with 4-in-1 binning and 1080p@30fps.
