A few weeks ago, a rumor about Nokia 9 PureView sporting a Penta-camera setup at the rear was highlighted. Well, since then, we heard a number of rumors about the upcoming beast but this particular report is probably the most interesting. Per the latest report by Nokia Anew, a Russian publication, they have received intel from their sources that HMD Global is planning to launch the anticipated Nokia 9 PureView sometime in the last week of January 2019.

To summarize, HMD Global bought Nokia a few years ago and released a whole line of Android smartphones. The company then moved towards acquiring PureView which had a history with Nokia Lumia series back when Nokia was under Microsoft. After HMD Global acquired PureView, rumor mills began churning out speculations that the company might be working on a new age Nokia smartphone with the PureView branding and that is when Nokia 9 came into play.

There have been a number of leaks suggesting various specifications that Nokia 9 PureView will offer but the most exciting is that it has a Penta-camera setup at the back plus a depth sensor and a dual-tone LED flash. Although the sensors and other details regarding the camera are still unavailable, we can expect an array of standard, telephoto, depth, and other sensors that many other OEMs have already worked on such as Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S9, etc but definitely not with five cameras at the back.

Anyhow, pictures posted on Slashleaks, showing off Nokia 9 PureView’s front panel while a previous phone case revealed the similar Penta-cam setup. As for the specifications, Nokia 9 PureView will sport a 5.9-inch QHD display with a resolution of 1440×2960 pixels. It will run on octa-core Snapdragon 845 SoC backed by 8GB RAM and a 64/128GB internal storage with expandability feature via microSD. Further, it will rock a whopping 4,150 mAh battery making it one of the largest battery in a smartphone today with Quick Charge 3.0 and with Qi wireless charging support.

It will rock a 5 camera set up at the back as aforementioned but with Zeiss lens and PureView branding and will be IP67 water and dust resistant. Finally, it is speculated to release in the last week of January 2019 so let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
