Nothing Phone 2a Plus is now official. It took London-based Nothing just a few months to roll out a successor that brings two new color options, a 50MP selfie camera, and an updated chipset while retaining the ecstatic DNA of Phone 2a.
Nothing Phone 2a Plus is a Jacked-up Version of Phone 2a
The London-based giant has surprised us yet again with a new offering aka the Phone 2a Plus even before Phone (3) could hit the market sometime next year. It does use some specs as Phone 2a — the predecessor, such as the same flashing Glyph Interface, NFC, the battery, and a few things, but it does round it up with some upgrades.
Presenting Phone 2a Plus with a Dimensity 7350 Pro SoC. It is a major upgrade over DImensity 7200 SoC. Nothing and MediaTek collaborated to bring this new ‘Pro’ overclocked chipset to the new device. It features an eight-core architecture bearing 2x Cortex-A715 cores clocked at a whopping 3.0GHz while the other six power-efficient cores are clocked at 2.0GHz.
The chipset still uses Mali-G610 MC4 GPU from D7200, however, it has been overclocked to run at 1.30GHz as well. All in all, the D7350 Pro can propel your Phone 2a Plus with a 30% bump in GPU and 10% faster CPU performance. On the software front, we have Nothing OS 2.6 powered Android 14. Unsurprisingly, even Nothing is getting on the ChatGPT wagon with the integration.
Another major upgrade comes in the form of a new 50MP selfie camera, a straight-up upgrade from Phone 2a’ 32MP shooter. You can now shoot 4K videos at up to 30fps using the new sensor that is neatly nicely in a punch-hole cut-out taking no more than a tiny bit of space on a massive 6.7” AMOLED panel that works at a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution.
You need a good battery to carry any task on the phone, right? Well, Nothing Phone 2a Plus packs in a 5,000mAh battery which is similar to its predecessor. However, there’s a slight upgrade in the form of charging tech that has moved from 45W to 50W wired. Although this isn’t a major upgrade, it will still get your battery charged up a bit quicker so that you get to use your phone a bit sooner.
