We know that Nvidia has been doing very well lately with its RTX 30 series and we know that it is facing supply shortages as well due to the same. But we now know that it is not planning to stop its RTX 20 series lineup as we now have news that Nvidia RTX 2050 GPU is coming to laptops next year.

Also, the best part is that we will have a GPU that will power affordable laptops, not premium laptops. One thing to note is that the RTX 2050 GPU is based on the Ampere architecture and not the Turing architecture. This is great because we already have all the RTX 30 series cards based on the same architecture.

The main advantage of being on Ampere architecture is that we might get some ray-tracing abilities on this GPU which will be helpful to bring ray tracing on an affordable laptop. Also, the RTX 2050 GPU will have the same 4GB DDR6 memory as well as 2048 CUDA cores that we get on the RTX 3050 GPU.

However, it is worth noting that the same performance can not be expected from the RTX 2050 as we see from the RTX 3050 because the latter comes with a 128-bit memory bus while the former comes with a 64-bit memory bus.

It will be exciting to see the next wave of laptops that come with the RTX 2050 GPU because we already know that it is meant for affordable laptops. Some reports also say that this card is introduced as a middle ground between the RTX 3050 and the GTX 1650. Because the GTX 1650 cards were lacking high-end performance and the RTX 3050 cards cost a lot more.

With the launch of the RTX 2050 card. Nvidia might have struck the right balance between affordability and performance but only time will tell how these cards perform when they are used in the real world on affordable laptops that don’t have a high amount of RAM and best-in-class CPU.
