Gone are the days when OnePlus was considered the fastest in the lot when it comes to software updates. Google is testing out Android 12 and it will arrive a few months later. Cut to now, OnePlus promised an Android 11-powered OxygenOS 11 as a beta build on the OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 6T in August, and turns out the Chinese smartphone maker has fulfilled the promise.
According to the announcement, OnePlus has finally released OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 1 build for both OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 6T a month ahead of its original schedule. Note that it is an early beta build that the company released to gather feedback. No doubt this update is available for a limited number of people and that too via a manual method where they have to download the firmware and install it on their devices.
This particular early build is not that stable and thus, users should pay attention to keeping the update limited to their secondary devices. Once the feedback is gathered, OnePlus will release the further Open Beta builds officiallY via the OTA method for 6/6T users.
OxygenOS 11 is one of the most refined custom UI based on Android 11 with a tonne of upgrades including a refreshed UI that enhances one-handed usage. Along with it, the update has brought about Dark Mode improvements along with improved Game Space, Ambient Display, camera UI, widgets, and animations to name a few.
Android 11 on the OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 6T is its third and last update which means users won’t get Android 12 unless the OnePlus decides to add the support.
