You must have seen that there is a lot of talk about upcoming smartphones from OnePlus a few months before they are released. And this is all thanks to the marketing and strategy adopted by the OnePlus PR team and the way it is creating hype around their products. We have seen most of the industry leaders acknowledge OnePlus for their strategy and this has helped them be on the same level as Samsung and Apple in just five years of existence.
Also talking about the OnePlus strategy, they have been launching two flagship smartphone series every year from the last few years and before that, they launched two smartphones every year in the flagship category. But the company also did launch a mid-range phone after the OnePlus 2 launch which was the OnePlus X.
In terms of sales figures, the smartphone failed to live up to the hype because of certain issues. But the company is back with its plans to launch “affordable product offerings” once again. This is after an interview from OnePlus CEO Pete Lau to the Fast Company.
You would also feel that giving an interview at present is quite random from OnePlus CEO but this is all in preparation for their upcoming smartphone launch. And yes, this also means that the ‘OnePlus Z’ rumoured from quite some time is coming really soon.
It is said that OnePlus Z will be the next affordable smartphone from the company and it might be launched only in India and other South-East Asian countries. As per the OnePlus CEO, India will “soon” have an announcement regarding the “new strategy” which is going to be the launch of ‘OnePlus Z’.
On the other hand, the company “hopes to bring lower-priced devices to other markets, including North America and Europe” as per OnePlus CEO which will come “Later this year” meaning that OnePlus Z could be launched in the US, Canada and Europe too.
As for the OnePlus Z, we are going to see a Snapdragon 730G processor inside the device but there is a possibility of MediaTek Dimensity 800 with 5G support as well. The device will have an OLED 90Hz display same as the OnePlus 8 but the resolution will be lower. There will also be a dual-camera setup at the back of the device with centred punch-hole cutout on the front.
