OnePlus is on a spree of releasing software updates for its latest device OnePlus 5. Ever since the phone was made available in the market, the buyers have been reporting a number of issues and bugs in the device. This 4.5.5 update is the third update so far after a couple of updates were released last week.
The Oxygen OS 4.5.5 update comes with a fairly long list of fixes and optimisations that the company has brought. The major ones of them include improvements to Wi-Fi connectivity, better voice clarity on calls, and the OS has been tweaked to consume less battery when doing video recording. Wi-Fi optimizations also include the fix for a bug that constantly displayed weak signals.
Here is the complete list of changelog that the Oxygen OS 4.5.5 comes with:
Optimizations:
- Further improvements to Wi-Fi connectivity
- Clearer voice calling
- Video recording now consumes less battery
- Vibration intensity when receiving calls is now tuned to a gentler level
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed Wi-Fi signal consistently being displayed as weak
- Fixed certain apps not able to work under IPv6 network settings
- To restore connectivity to a Windows 10 PC, please turn off USB debugging prior to the upgrade
The most prominent of all the issues was the subtle visual effect while scrolling which was termed “jelly scrolling”. The issue was severe for some users while many didn’t even have it. Some of the teardowns have revealed that the display on the OnePlus 5 has been placed upside down, which is being said to be the possible reason for that jelly effect.
A few of OnePlus 5 users have also faced issues with stereo sound recording. The stereo recording gets reversed when the user holds the phone after spinning it counter clockwise from portrait mode. OnePlus has acknowledged the issue and has said to push a fix in a future update. On the other hand, the company has refused to accept jelly effect as an issue and called it natural.
While we wait for all the updates to be fixed, it is good to see OnePlus releasing regular updates to the OnePlus 5 for fixing all the issues and bugs as they appear. The Oxygen OS 4.5.5 update is rolling out slowly and should reach you the next few days.
