Polestar, the well-known electric vehicle brand, is now diving into the smartphone business by introducing the Polestar Phone. On the other hand, it is not a brand new one either, it’s a mere rebrand of the Meizu 21 Pro that came to life in January.
The Polestar Phone: A Revamped Meizu 21 Pro for EV Enthusiasts
Polestar Phone provides great processing power with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with a smooth 120Hz LTPO OLED display and an impressive 16GB RAM + 1TB ROM. This phone also features a good camera setup for photographers, as its rear features a triple-camera setup made up of a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.
Then, powering up all this is a 5,050mAh battery that can go with 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The device’s design incorporates a Scandinavian minimalism style that embodies Polestar’s brand values.
Currently, the Polestar Phone can be purchased in China via the Polestar app. The cherry on top? The Polestar tracks all this with its built-in smartphone app, which will enable features like the phone as a digital car key with a software update.

Thanks to the embedded UWB hardware, the phone lays a foundation for the appearance of the car key in digital form. Polestar also reveals the fascinating capabilities of AI such as AI-driven image creation and AI-assisted input in the forthcoming updates of its system. Also, the Polestar Link app is shown to provide effortless compatibility with other car brands which implies that Polestar has a wider intent than just the Polestar 4.
Although the Polestar Phone comes with specs similar to high-brand models, some users might be put off by the reworked marking. With the roll-out of the phone limited to only China and extreme concentration on integrating with Polestar cars, it is clear that this is just a first step towards Polestar entering the smartphone field. The future remains uncertain if it is about the availability of the phone in global markets and exploring it beyond the car-centric features.
