It’s official. Snapdragon Summit 2024 is happening in October where we will get to see the next-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC make its big splash powering a host of flagship devices starting as early as October itself.
The stage is set for Snapdragon Summit 2024
Indeed, the stage is all set as we gear up for the upcoming Snapdragon Summit 2024 happening in Maui, Hawaii, from October 21st through October 23rd. No doubt we already knew that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC would debut at October’s summit. Qualcomm’s CMO Don McGuire had already hinted at the next big event when he attended MWC 2024.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC is a performance beast
The upcoming flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC has appeared in hundreds and thousands of leaks to date.
Qualcomm will deploy its first-generation 3nm process to fab the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC via TSMC. Last year, Apple got the exclusive rights to fab 3nm Apple A17 Pro chipsets to power the iPhone 15 Pro series. However, this year it will be different since Qualcomm has finally stepped up its game and is about to roll out a 3nm chipset delivering exceptional performance and battery efficiency. A previously leaked Geekbench score gave it 3,000 points on single-core and 10,000 points on multicore tests.
The chipset maxes at 4GHz frequency and uses two prime Oryon cores plus six high-performance cores. Yes, Qualcomm is dropping power-efficient cores in favor of the aforementioned setup possibly to yank up the performance that we’ll see once the real-life test results arrive.
Speculations suggest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC’ Oryon cores will be super-charged and with an all-new neural processing unit (NPU) delivering major improvements. Adreno 830 GPU will handle the graphics processing onboard SD8 Gen 4. According to MySmartPrice, this flagship chip is capable of withstanding a stable frame rate on Genshin Impact for a straight 45 minutes of gameplay.
