- Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 Pro+ will be the first Redmi phone to feature satellite messaging functionality.
- Apparently, the Chinese smartphone maker is testing the feature and with China's MIIT certification, it has inched closer to reality.
- Redmi Note 15 Pro+ will launch sometime in August (probably just in China) and here's our take on the feature coming built-in.
Redmi is speculated to do something that only a handful of phones have done so far. Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is gaining satellite messaging functionality via China’s BeiDou system. Apparently, it’s not in the air but rather the phone has received an official certification from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The first Redmi phone with satellite messaging functionality
The upcoming Redmi Note 15 Pro+ will become the first in its cadre to feature this functionality. In fact, it’s the first, even though we have premium cadre Redmi K and Redmi K Ultra series in the market, making this Note a truly special one to wait for.
Tipster Digital Chat Station spoke about this on Weibo, saying it’s only the Note 15 Pro+ getting the feature for now. This is perhaps Xiaomi’s tactic to market products with a standout feature, aka satellite messaging. For the unversed, the feature allows users to exchange messages when there’s no cellular network in the vicinity. It has been summoned as an emergency feature as it helps alert your friends and family or emergency services when you need them.
We have already seen the feature across a ton of flagship devices, and there’s a distinction; we have seen it only on ‘flagship phones’. This makes Note 15 Pro+ an exception; however, it remains to be seen whether the phone will be available outside China and if Xiaomi will extend the functionality across other Redmi devices.
Beyond Redmi Note 15 Pro+ satellite messaging functionality
Well, we don’t have any official specs sheet yet, but that doesn’t mean there’s no chatter. Previous reports have shown the presence of a Snapdragon 7s series SoC on-board paired alongside a massive 7,000mAh battery. Perhaps, it is also needed because of the new connectivity feature that will suck a lot of battery juice when used.
Moving on, Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is expected to feature a quad-curved OLED panel with 1.5K resolution with slim and uniform bezels around the display. There’s a massive 50MP primary plus a 50MP telephoto lens at the back, possibly paired with an auxiliary or ultrawide snapper.
Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is expected to roll out in August as a part of Xiaomi’s summer rollout. However, the exact date remains to be confirmed, so stay tuned for more updates right here.
