Redmi Note 7 Announced with 48MP Camera Setup; Starts at $150 only

Quite a few moments ago, Xiaomi along with its newly independent brand Redmi have finally announced the most anticipated, Redmi Note 7, through an event held in China. The device, that packs flagship features, monstrous camera setup, an effecient processor and the most considerable, an insanely low price tag. It’s the cheapest phone to sport a 48MP camera setup on its back, starting at 999 Chinese Yuan (~$150).

 

Redmi Note 7 is the first phone to come with a Redmi Branding, instead of a ‘MI’ one that we used to see on other devices by Xiaomi. The smartphone features a 6.3-inch LCD display with a FHD+ resolution of 2340×1080 pixels up front. The display comes with a so called ‘Water drop’ notch on top of its display accompanied by an aspect ratio of 19:5:9. Apart from that, The display is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. In terms of design, the phone sports a 2.5D double sided glass body, capable of showing different variations under different lighting conditions. It is worth mentioning that the phone retains a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Redmi Note 7 is powered by an efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE SoC, with the highest frequency of 2.2GHz, better than the Snapdragon 660 with frequency of 1.95GHz. The processor is paired with upto 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The device is fueled by a 4,000 mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging via USB Type C Port. In terms of software, the smartphone comes with the latest and greatest Android 9.0 Pie flavoured with MIUI 10 out-of-the-box. Other features of the phone includes an IR sensor (Infrared) and sound amplifier.

In terms of optics, the Note 7 highlights a revolutionary 48MP camera setup on its back. It has an AI dual camera setup, including a main 48MP Samsung’s GM1 sensor equipped with four-in-one 1.6μm large pixel. The 48MP lens is combined with a 5MP Depth sensor for taking stunning bokeh images. On the front is a 13MP selfie shooter, supporting AI Scene Recognition, Face Unlocking, Front HDR, Single Shot Background, Studio Light Effects, etc.

When it comes to the pricing, the device is available in three variants. The base one with 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM is priced at 999 Chinese Yuan (~$150), while the 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM variant is priced at 1,199 Chinese Yuan (~$175).  The high-end variant of the phone with 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM is priced at 1,399 Chinese Yuan (~$205). Further, the phone is available in three colours, Glare Gold, Fantasy Blue Gradient, and Standard Black.
