It’s been a year since Ringing Bells, an Indian company, announced the cheapest smartphone on the planet, namely Freedom 251. Which was supposed to cost around Rs. 251 (equivalent to $4). Not only the product sounded too good to be true, but the brand itself had shady attributes. A year has passed by, not a single update on the phone has been issued by the company. However, it has come to our notice that Mohit Goel, the Founder of Ringing Bells, has axed his own feet and put himself into a lawsuit.
Digging into the incident, a person paid Rs. 30 lakhs or Rs. 3 Million to the $4 phone manufacturer – Ringing Bells, for a bulk order of the Freedom 251 handsets. In return, what the person received was not even half of what he paid for! On top of that, several devices received in the order, were faulty or of poor quality.
For the unfulfilled order, the buyer rather chooses to take an archetypical step – to ask for a refund. In return, instead of a compensation, he gets a death threat from Mohit Goel, menacing about killing him and his family. Goel axes his feet here; he has been arrested on the charges of not fulfilling the order, not offering the deserved refund, and above all, threatening to murder his client.
