Samsung Galaxy A52, Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72 Announced

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A52, Galaxy A52 5G, and Galaxy A72 today via an online YouTube video streaming, resulting in the addition of three new devices to the already booming Galaxy A-series smartphones. These smartphones come in the higher mid-range smartphone category of the Galaxy A-series.

The Galaxy A52 5G is featuring a 6.52-inches Super AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen has a display resolution of 1020×2400 pixels which means a Full-HD+ display, with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and display density of 405 PPI. Other than that, the screen also houses a small punch-hole cut-out for the selfie camera and features an under-display optical fingerprint scanner. The display is protected by a sheet of Gorilla Glass 5, the rest of the phone has additional protection in place to earn it an IP67 rating.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC, paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of onboard storage (UFS 2.1). The Snapdragon 750G is an octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Kryo 570 & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 570) SoC paired with Adreno 619 GPU for improved performance in terms of graphics.

In the camera department, the Galaxy A52 5G features a quad-camera setup at the rear and a single camera setup at the front. The rear quad-camera setup includes a primary 64-megapixel camera sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 that supports phase detection auto-focus (PDAF), Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and Tetra-binning tech, a secondary 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 with a viewing angle of 123-degrees, a tertiary 5-megapixel macro sensor with an aperture of f/2.4, and finally a 2-megapixel depth sensor with an aperture of f/2.2. And at the front, the smartphone houses a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

The smartphone is fueled via a 4500 mAh battery that can be charged using the 25-watt fast charger (15-watt charger included in the box). Speaking of the software, the smartphone runs on One UI 3.1, which is working on top of Android 11. Other than that, the smartphone includes all the basic connectivity options and sensors, like Bluetooth 5.0, 5G, WiFi, GPS, NFC, USB C, fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass ANT+, etc.

Now, speaking of the non-5G variant, there are a few variations like we have seen a 120Hz refresh rate in the 5G variant whereas the base A52 has a display with a 90 Hz refresh rate. And there is a slight downgrade in the system-on-chip as well, the A52 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 750G SoC, whereas the A52 4G is powered by the Snapdragon 720G SoC.

The Snapdragon 720G is an octa-core (2×2.3 GHz Kryo 465 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 465 Silver) SoC paired with Adreno 618 GPU for improved performance in terms of graphics. In the A52 5G model, we are given only two RAM variants, i.e., 6 GB and 8 GB, whereas the 4G model has three different RAM variants, i.e., 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB.

The Galaxy A72 has a slighter bigger 6.7-inches Super AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The screen has a display resolution of 1020×2400 pixels which means a Full-HD+ display, with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and display density of 393 PPI. Other than that, the screen also houses a small punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera and features an under-display optical fingerprint scanner. The display is protected by a sheet of Gorilla Glass 5, the rest of the phone has additional protection in place to earn it an IP67 rating.

The base 4GB and 128 GB variant of Galaxy A52 will be available for €350 whereas the base 6GB and 128 GB variant of A52 5G has a price tag of €430.  The Galaxy A52 5G is already available for pre-order on the Samsung website, whereas the availability of the A52 is still in the shadow.

The Galaxy A72 is available in four color options. The color options include Awesome Black, Awesome White, Awesome Violet, and Awesome Blue. The base 6GB RAM and 128 GB variant of Galaxy A72 will be available at a price tag of €450.
