Samsung unveiled three different sets of Ultrabook today at the Galaxy Unpacked April event. The event was held via the YouTube Live stream, which is basically the new normal from last year. We have seen most of the events from last year online-only, whether it is the Apple event or the OnePlus event, or the Galaxy Unpacked event.
Now, coming back to the announcements, Samsung reintroduced the laptop segment to the market. But this time it comes with a ton of great features in the hardware section, like 11th Gen CPUs, NVMe SSDs, GeForce GPUs, and much more.
Samsung Galaxy Book
This is the base model among the three Galaxy Book series Ultrabook. But base doesn’t mean it is not capable of doing basic tasks, it is capable of doing more than all the basic tasks. The design is very sleek and good-looking, and the weight is exceptionally less too, measuring 15.4 mm and 1.55 kg (3.4lbs), respectively.
Now, speaking of the display, Samsung actually cut it off a little bit in this department. It features a 15.6-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The display isn’t the best, but it isn’t the worst as well. Samsung is famous for its best quality displays around the market, now, we will have to see, whether they maintained the level here as well or not.
Under the hood, it actually has a number of different CPU options, varying from budget-friendly Pentium Gold to the 11th Gen Intel i7 as well. You can choose the CPU variant according to your budget. Now, speaking of RAM and storage variant, it has the base 4 GB LPPDR4X RAM, a mid 8 GB variant, and also a high 16 GB variant, and in the storage section, it only has 256 GB and 512 GB, with an extra slot for a secondary NVMe SSD. Finally, the laptop is equipped with GeForce MX450 GPU, which is optional, it is up to you that you want it or not.
In the connectivity department, it has plenty of ports, starting from two USB 3.2 ports, two USB Type-C ports, a full-sized HDMI port, a MicroSD card slot, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and finally a Kensington lock slot. The Ultrabook is fueled with a 54 Wh battery that can be charged using the 65-watt charging adapter over one of the USB Type-C ports.
Other than that, the laptop also features an optional fingerprint sensor on the power key, which is available in fewer models. You will have to pay a few bucks to get these features. The laptop works on Windows 10 Home and Pro editions. This variant has LTE to go along with Wi-Fi 6.
Samsung Galaxy Book Pro
This is the best-valued flagship Ultrabook in the whole Galaxy Book series. As the name suggests, it is actually the upgraded version of what we are getting with Galaxy Book. The features are premium and come in market standard pricing and design.
Speaking of design, the Galaxy Book Pro comes in a very good design, sleek and lightweight, it basically weighs under 1 kilogram. On the display segment, it has a beautiful AMOLED display and has two different screen size models, 13.3 inches and 15.6 inches. Both the panels have a similar display resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.
Under the hood, both the Galaxy Book Pro models are powered by the 11th Gen Intel i3, i5, and i7 processor. So, basically, you can opt for the processor variant as per your budget and requirement. Now, speaking of RAM and storage variant, it has the base 8 GB LPPDR4X RAM, a mid 16 GB variant, and also a high 32 GB variant, and in the storage section, it only has 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB NVMe SSD, with an extra slot for a secondary NVMe SSD. Finally, the i5 and i7 laptop variant is equipped with integrated Iris Xe graphics, with an optional dedicated GeForce MX450 GPU, it is up to you that you want it or not.
In the connectivity department, the laptop(s) is equipped with a full-sized HDMI slot, a single USB Type-C port, another USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4 support, a single USB 3.2 port, a microSD card slot, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The Ultrabook is fueled with a 68 Wh battery that can be charged using the 65-watt charging adapter over one of the USB Type-C ports.
Other than that, the laptop also features an optional fingerprint sensor on the power key, which is available in fewer models. You will have to pay a few bucks to get these features. The laptop works on Windows 10 Home and Pro editions. This variant has LTE to go along with Wi-Fi 6E. Other features include AKG-tuned audio with Dolby Atmos support and a 720p webcam.
Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360
The Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 is a slightly upgraded model of the normal Pro model. It has a few differences like the first and major difference is the Super AMOLED touch display. The Pro 360 model features 5G connectivity over nano sim, whereas the Pro version supports only LTE connectivity. Other than that the 360 models eliminated a few ports like the HDMI port and the USB Type-A port with an additional USB Type-C port.
Other than that, the Pro and Pro 360 are almost the same. Also, since it is a touch screen Ultrabook, it is included with an S-pen too, which can be used as the stylus.
