Launching officially in the month of August and being baptized as Project “Great”, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will surely arrive as the prodigal smartphone, deemed to rekindle the hype and excitement of the Note series, burying all the chagrin that arose after the Note 7 fiasco. Caught what I did there? “Rekindle”? Let’s move on from the tedious joke and focus on an exciting leak that appeared today.
Apart from a total shape redesign, the Note 8 might also have a more powerful brother accompany it to the launch – the Note 8 AR. Much like it sounds, the Note 8 AR will probably sport exactly the same specifications that the Note 8 will, but an additional set of AR (augmented reality) abilities, and a larger main camera sensor. A new leak appeared on Slashleaks today, showing off various dimensions of the redesigned Note 8 along with a few specs, and a little information about the AR Competencies. However, we still cannot confirm whether it will be a different variant altogether or the same Note 8 sporting the rig.
The title on the page reads: Samsung Note 8 AR, (21MP/F1.7 main lens with complete AR support similar to Asus Zenfone AR. The title hints towards a new variant of Note 8, the Note 8 AR that will sport a massive 21-megapixel main sensor with Augmented Reality (AR) support that is identical to the Asus Zenfone AR’s, which launched last year. A quick recap: The Zenfone AR was announced with an 8GB of RAM, SnapDragon 821 Chipset with support for DayDream VR and Google Tango. All these made the phone unique at its time, and until now, there have been no follow-ups to this AR device that was launched at CES 2017. The Zenfone AR has a depth sensing and motion sensing 23-megapixel camera, 5.7-inch WQHD AMOLED Display, an advanced vapor cooling mechanism, and 4-Axis OIS, 3-Axis EIS, and a 3,300mAh battery. It also comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The Note 8, however, is said to sport 4-way speakers or 2-way speakers, as the leak demonstrates on the top and bottom edges, and a 6GB RAM, which is seemingly more than enough for Android.
The Note 8 AR seems to have dual cameras alongside the motion and depth sensing 21-megapixel sensor, which means Samsung will be innovating further with the dual cameras and AR support, which excites me so much. Note 8 and Note 8 AR leaks are something to mull over for sure, nevertheless, we need to take them with a grain of salt.
