Samsung Galaxy S24 series is due to arrive this January. We already know so much about it thanks to the speculations that started arriving almost a year ago. Cut to now, we have some updates about the 2025 Samsung Galaxy S25 series related to their cameras. Turns out the South Korean will replace the ISOCELL sensors onboard with Sony sensors.

Tipster @Tech_Reve took it to Twitter (now X) stating that the Galaxy S25 and S25+ will use Sony’s sensors instead of the in-house ISOCELL sensors. For now, Galaxy S22 and S22+ use ISOCELL GN5 50MP cameras while Galaxy S23 and S23+ use 50MP GN3 sensors. The upcoming S24 and S24+ are expected to use in-house ISOCELL 50MP sensors as well. It means getting a Sony sensor would make Galaxy S25 and S25+ stand out in some way or shape.

Note that doing so won’t affect the camera performance a lot. It is known that Samsung will use Sony sensors that are similar to ISOCELL sensors so we are hoping it’s around the lines of Sony IMX890 or Sony LYT-700. Of course, Sony has upgraded its LYTIA line of sensors with some hardware specs, ultimately, it all boils down to software optimization without which, even a 200MP wouldn’t be able to furnish quality shots.

According to the rumors, Galaxy S25 Ultra is likely to pack in a new 200MP ISOCELL with a 1-inch sensor, 0.8-micron pixel size, in-sensor crop zoom, and dual-pixel autofocus. It remains to be seen how the new sensor will perform. Apart from that, the next-gen Galaxy S25 series will pack in Exynos 2500 SoC and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoCs (if Samsung decides to go with a dual chip strategy) both of which will be fabricated on the 3nm process.
