The official update with Slow Motion video, AR Emojis and September 1, 2018, Android Patch for Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, has begun rolling out. Starting with devices in the UAE, in the normal Samsung fashion, the update will soon be rolled out to other devices. Our Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus running on the UAE firmware, recently received then update.
As quoted in the update, it brings in a 552.69 MB package, the Android security patch for September 2018, with AR Emoji that convert your face into a digitally animated emoji, and the most awaited super slow motion feature that allows you to capture slow motion videos. These features were announced with the Galaxy S9, more than 6 months ago. Now they’re being rolled out to the previous edition of the S series – the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.
Whilst the Samsung Galaxy S9, S9 Plus and Note 9 do Super Slow Motion at 960FPS, the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus adds a 460FPS slow motion to the devices, that may be because of the hardware capabilities.
UPDATE: On our experience, the super slow motion is very stuttery at the moment, even in broad daylight. The Animojis work slower than on S9 and S9 Plus, but they are equally buggy. Lastly, what we see improvements in is the performance. The phone feels faster and more fluid than before.
