The Galaxy Unpacked event is said to be held in early January, which is just around the corner. The South Korean giant will launch the Galaxy S21 series during this event. By this time now, we already know what Samsung is hiding under its sleeve with the Galaxy S21 series, thanks to the streak of leaks. A few leaks and rumors in the past have suggested that Samsung might not ship the Galaxy S21 series with a charger in the box. Now, a shred of evidence has surfaced online that shows the company will not include a charger in the box of the upcoming Galaxy S21 series.

Following the news of Apple starting a trend with its iPhone 12 series by not including a charger in the box, there have been reports that Samsung might follow the same trend with its 2021 flagships. It goes without saying that all smartphone manufacturers follow the trend created by Apple. When the Cupertino-based giant removed the earphone jack from its iPhone 7, a few manufacturers mocked the company. But all the companies who’ve mocked ended up following the footsteps of Apple by removing the jack from their own phones. Seems like the same is repeating all over again!

Samsung led the internet in mocking Apple for its decision to exclude a charger inside the iPhone 12 box. Now, less than two months later, we are seeing the evidence that confirms Samsung following the footsteps of Apple. Well, this is not completely unexpected as people who were more familiar with Samsung’s history started counting down since the mockery. While there is no official confirmation from the company, there is strong evidence from an ANATEL certification (Brazil’s equivalent of US’ FCC) that reveals three devices from the upcoming series will not ship with a charger and earphones. This was first reported by Technoblog.

When translated a portion of the certification reads that “The cellphone will not be sold with a power supply”. The certification further adds that the devices were tested with two Samsung chargers with model numbers EP-TA800 and EP-TA800B. Also, these devices will not be sold with headphones but three headphones with model numbers GH59-15106A, GH59-15107A, and GH59-15403A were provided for testing. Do note that this information comes from Brazil, where Apple might be forced to include a power adapter with its iPhone 12. We are not really sure how the story turns for Samsung if the same happens in the country.

“Smartphones shipping without chargers”, we have seen this coming for a long time now. While many of us rejected this rumor, Apple has done it already. Seems like Samsung is all set to follow this trend too. We can only see more and more OEMs following this trend in the near future.
