Introducing the new second-generation AirPods 2 that Cupertino-based tech giant Apple introduced as a surprise announcement. To sum it up, the new buds have no notable design change although it has added hands-free “Hey, Siri” command support, it has failed to impress the masses.

According to The Verge, the new buds have an updated wireless charging case that comes complying with Qi charging standard that allows the users to charge their buds and the case wirelessly. Yes, there are no notable changes to the overall buds but a LED light has made its way on the charging case that allows the user to gauge the battery life remaining.

Further, Apple has tweaked the chipset that runs the buds from W1 chip used in first-gen AirPods to a more versatile and improved H1 chip. Apple claims that these new chips are capable of improving battery life by 50% however, it still has a battery life of up to 5 hours with continuous music playback on a single charge. The new chipset has allows the buds to connect with other Apple devices twice as faster than the previous gen buds along with a hands-on Siri operation on command.

The H1 chip along with wireless charging case allows the user to listen to music for 3 hours or a 2 hour talk time on a 15-minute recharge which is something impressive when it comes to Apple products that are notoriously known for being too power-hungry.

We are talking about the new AirPods 2 with no notable changes and yet, it doesn’t fail to bore a hole in your pocket. The new AirPods with wireless charging case is up for grab at $199 while the users can also buy the same pods without wireless charging case at $159. Further, since the wireless charging case supports Qi charging, it can be used with existing AirPods as well and it is available for $79.

CNET adds that the biggest disappointment with the pods is its design which didn’t follow any of the leaks and renders that surfaced on the internet for a few months now. It includes AirPods in Black or a refreshed design, however, Apple literally squashed the expectations people had with it.

Anyhow, Apple has scheduled a launch event on March 25 where it will launch its video subscription service. It recently introduced new Macs as well and it is also considering updating the design for its upcoming iPhone XI or 11 slated to announce sometime in September 2019 but it is Apple and there are bound to be millions of changes in the design before we actually see it live during the launch event or say, before the event thanks to leaks and who knows that better than Samsung.
