More than 100 billion WhatsApp Messages are exchanged every day. With 2.78 billion users & counting, WhatsApp has become a powerhouse both for personal and professional uses. The app simply makes it easier to message or reach out to someone in a jiffy.

However, the only hurdle that I feel holds me back is the one where I need to save WhatsApp contacts in order to message them. Only if there was a way to send WhatsApp messages without saving contacts. Turns out, there is, and here’s our step-by-step guide on how you can do it on your phone (or PC, if you want).

Why Would You Want To Send WhatsApp Messages Without Saving Contacts?

Before we can dive into the instructions on sending messages without actually saving contacts, it’s important to understand why you need to know it to begin with.

First up, an average WhatsApp user like me would need to save a contact to send a message on WhatsApp. Do you agree? Although it seems legit to do that, sometimes you just want to send a quick message or a reminder or don’t want to take the hassle of saving contacts that you would need any day. This creates unnecessary friction, and that’s something where this guide can be a goldmine for you.

For WhatsApp Business users, the story revolves around similar lines which means businesses find it difficult to save each individual contact before sending them updates news, or any other type of communication. It also creates unnecessary friction, leading to lower customer satisfaction and a major hurdle when it comes to messages to hundreds or even thousands of WhatsApp users at once.

How To Send WhatsApp Messages Without Saving Contacts?

Now that you know exactly why you need to know how you can send WhatsApp messages without saving contacts, here’s how it is actually done.

Method #1: Send Phone Number to Chat

I believe this is the easiest method to send WhatsApp messages without taking the hassle of saving contacts whatsoever. Here’s how.

The Background: You want to message a person named John with a phone number +971566447788 (UAE) or say +919745483655 (India) since the country code plays a major role here.

Step #1: Open WhatsApp on your phone.

Step #2: Open a random chat, or I would advise opening your own contact or a group, maybe where only you are the recipient.

Step #3: Type in the number +971566447788 or +919745483655 and hit send.

Step #4: This will convert the aforementioned number into a hyperlink that you can click and bang, you have reached the recipient’s WhatsApp without even saving their numbers.

Note: This is one of the quickest ways to send messages on WhatsApp and doesn’t require saving the number whatsoever. Moreover, the sent number stays with you (since you either sent it to someone or yourself) which means, even if you delete the chat with John, you can simply click on the number you had sent earlier (Step #1) and open your dialogue without ever saving the contact.

Method #2: The Phone URL

Unlike Method #1 which works only when you are on WhatsApp and have sent the number, this method works with the URL bar on WhatsApp Web as well. Here’s how.

Step #1: Assume you are sending a WhatsApp message to John, again.

Step #2: If you are on WhatsApp Web, go to your URL bar, type “https://wa.me/971566447788” and hit enter. This will open the recipient’s WhatsApp inbox, which you can use to send messages to them. It works similarly to Method #1 but requires the URL and can be used across WhatsApp (the app) and the Web.

In fact, this was an old message before WhatsApp refined its algorithms to recognize just the phone number and guide you toward the recipient.

Method #3: Use TrueCaller

I have been using Truecaller for a while now to recognize unknown callers and block spam callers/messages. Well, it has aged well, giving you access to a plethora of features, one of which is to access WhatsApp on that given phone number. Well, you can use this feature to access WhatsApp on the selected number without saving them. Here’s how.

Step #1: Open TrueCaller on your phone.

Step #2: Either feed in the number in its search bar or if it’s already there, tap to get more options.

Step #3: You will spot WhatsApp on the bottom of the searched phone number, click on it, and bingo, you land on WhatsApp directly.

Method #4: Contact Numbers in WhatsApp Groups

If you want to message someone who is already in any of your WhatsApp Groups, it’s way simpler to text them, needing no saving on the numbers. Here’s how.

Step #1: Open WhatsApp on your phone/PC.

Step #2: Go to the WhatsApp Group that has a participant you want to text.

Step #3: Check out the list of members and when you find it, click on and you’ll see the option to “Message {Phone Number}”, click on it, and bingo!
