Sony started pushing out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to their Sony Xperia Z devices, and the company now confirmed that they’re going to start rolling out in other regions later this week. But, they announced more, the Sony Xperia Z line-up will receive the update to Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Along with the announcements for the Sony Xperia Z range, Sony stated that the Xperia T2 Ultra and the Xperia C3 will receive Android 5.1, starting in July. The Xperia M2 and M2 Aqua will also receive the update to Android 5.1 Lollipop, but the roll-out for those devices will start after the Xperia Z range got the update.

Just for the reference, the premium Xperia Z line-up includes the Xperia Z, ZL, ZR, Tablet Z, Z1, Z1S, Z Ultra, Z1 compact, Z2, Z2 Tablet, Z3, Z3v, Z3 compact and the Z3 Tablet Compact. Back in mid-May, a video showing Android 5.1.1 on the Xperia Z3 leaked, and that hinted us that the company was planning to update the handset. Although, an Android 5.1 update for so many devices is a bit of a surprise for me. The video also showed us some new animations, icons and changes to the Walkman app, that will likely appear in the next update.

Sony says that the time-frame for your update to Android 5.1 Lollipop will vary from device to device and is depending on your market and carrier. More details about the update will be available in the future, and it is a good thing that the update plans from Sony aren’t stopping at Android 5.0 Lollipop.
