Sony is a major brand in the smartphone industry and an even bigger one in the consumer electronics market because of its wide range of products apart from smartphones. The company is also known to have a wide range of products in the listening categories such as earphones, headphones and speakers. To take advantage of this prowess, Sony released a pair of noise-cancelling headphones named as the 1000XM3’s which came out to compete with Bose’s industry-leading headphones, the QC35II at that time. The rest is history because Sony has emerged as the winner in this battle and its XM3’s have been extremely popular compared to Bose.
Now, the upgraded version of Sony 1000XM4 seems to be just around the corner because it has been seen as listed on Walmart store already as per The Verge’s report. This pair of headphones will continue the legacy that Sony’s XM3 have set and are expected to be the best noise-cancelling headphones once again. Looking at the Best Buy listing, we can see that the company will continue its $348 price tag with these headphones too. This is similar to what Bose charges for its headphones and Apple is said to be launching its pair in the same range as well.
For the Sony 1000XM4, we are not going to see massive changes compared to the previous model but there will be some welcome changes such as the ability to pair with two devices at the same time. It will continue to have USB Type-C fast charging, touchpad controls and more. Apart from that, voice calls made from the headphones will also be improved with “Precise Voice Pickup Technology,” using five mics on the headphones and some signal processing tweaks to pick up the voice better. Sony promises 30 hours of battery life with these headphones the same as 1000XM3 while better battery life was expected.
