Samsung has well acknowledged the fact that there is a software calibration issue with some of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ units. The issue went viral after a ton of videos and photos surfaced online, suggesting what might’ve been an unfortunate hardware flaw, but thanks to Samsung’s claims, and also some real quick measures, it is very safe to say they’re taking it seriously indeed.
This update has first been rolled out in the UK, Germany, and Turkey, and Europe is next in line as of the time of writing this article. The update has brought two new settings to play around with, and also to make the most out of all those pixels on that display.
Firstly, there’s a new slider to change the temperature of the display, and while people are already suffering the red tint issue might not ever need the warmth tab, I personally feel that it’s a great little addition. The next one, Samsung also has provided a separate display setting for the edges of the S8 and S8+. Some people complained vastly about how the red tint was more noticeable on the edges, so there you go said Samsung and called it a day.
Lastly, if, for some reason, the user still isn’t satisfied, or finds that the actual panel is at fault, Samsung has promised to provide a replacement. Also, good to note, the settings won’t take effect if you have the blue-light filter turned on, and that Samsung also claims it might take more than 10 minutes for visual changes.
This little gesture by Samsung alone says a lot about the once defamed company. After the Note 7 blasts, Samsung has been seen acknowledging every small issue and quirk, and we feel that they’re doing the best a company could’ve ever done.
