Xiaomi seems to be cooking up something new. I am talking about Xiaomi 17 Max, an upcoming phone in the Xiaomi 17 family, aka the fifth member. Our latest exposure to the model reveals key specs around it, including a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC under the hood. Here’s what the Max brings to the table as it prepares for its big launch in China.
Xiaomi 17 Max is joining the 17 series with a humongous battery pack
Xiaomi 17 Max, the fifth Xiaomi 17 family member, is slated to arrive in China with a humongous 8,000mAh battery, thanks to an input from Digital Chat Station (DCS) via Weibo. It makes Max’s battery 1,200mAh bigger than the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which is currently sitting at an impressive 6,800mAh battery pack. It even triumphs over the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max’s 7,500mAh battery pack.
Heading forward, we have 100W wired and 50W wireless charging support on the Max. This is the same as Xiaomi 17, although it overshadows that of Ultra.
One of the biggest USPs on board the Xiaomi 17 Max specs sheet is its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 SoC, which makes it a flagship just like its siblings. Speaking about the designs, we are hoping it looks identical to the standard Xiaomi 17 with narrow and symmetrical bezels around all edges.
Putting Xiami 17 Max camera specs in the limelight
The cameras on the Xiaomi 17 Max are likely to be similar to those of the Xiaomi 17, with the inclusion of a periscope telephoto snapper. Currently, Xiaomi 17 specs include a 50MP primary wide-angle cam with OIS, a 50MP telephoto lens with OIS and 2.6x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide lens with 102-degree FoV. For context, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has a 200MP periscope telephoto lens with 4.3x continuous optical zoom, although it remains to be seen if this is exactly the sensor we will see on board the upcoming Max.
We still have to wait some time to get our hands on the Xiaomi 17 Max and when it could arrive.
