Xiaomi added another smartphone, the Redmi 9 Power to its Redmi 9 portfolio making it a total of 3 smartphones. Redmi 9 Power is actually a rebranded Redmi Note 9 4G which was launched in China last month along with Note 9 5G & Note 9 Pro 5G. Xiaomi seems to be following its own trend of rebranding smartphones from the Chinese market to other markets very often. We have already seen a few smartphones from its sub-brand POCO which was actually rebranded from Redmi smartphones which were originally launched in the Chinese market. Although in this case, the reason might a little bit different as the Indian Market already has a smartphone named Redmi Note 9.
There is nothing fancy about the planning since it’s a budget phone from the brand. there’s a textured back panel with an enormous Redmi branding on the rear & a triple camera setup placed during a rectangular camera module on the highest left. The fingerprint scanner is there on the proper side & it doubles because of the power button. The USB Type-C port is there on rock bottom while the 3.5mm headphone jack is placed on the topmost portion. There are stereo speakers on this phone, therefore the primary one is placed on rock bottom whereas the secondary speaker is placed on the top.
For the base 4 GB RAM + 64 GB Storage variant costs 10,999 INR and the top 4GB + 128GB variant priced at 11,999 INR. The Redmi 9 Power is available in four different colors: Black, Green, Blue, and Orange. The device will be retailing at mi.com, Amazon, and the offline retail stores from today onwards.
Redmi 9 Power Specifications
Redmi 9 Power has a 6.53-inch Full-HD+ panel with a waterdrop notch with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. There’s a water-drop notch at the middle top position of the smartphone for the selfie camera housing. The phone will run on Android 10 out of the box on top of Xiaomi’s own custom UI, the MIUI 12. 
In the camera department, the Redmi 9 Power, houses a quad-camera setup at the rear and a single camera setup at the front. The rear setup includes a primary 48-megapixel shooter with f/1.8 aperture, a secondary 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 120-degree view, a tertiary 2-megapixel macro with f/2.4 aperture, and finally a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. And the waterdrop notch on top houses an 8-megapixel camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture for selfies.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC paired with RAM up to 4 GB and 128 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 512 GB using a dedicated microSDXC slot. The Snapdragon 662 SoC is an octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Kryo 260 Gold & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260 Silver) SoC coupled with Adreno 610 GPU for better performance.
Other than that, the device features a huge 6000 mAh battery for great backup, and it can be fueled via an 18-watt fast charger included in the box. It also supports reverse charging up to 2.5-watt, beneficial for low-power input devices like Mi Band. The connectivity options include USB Type-C 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and all the basic sensors like side-mounted fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, proximity, compass, etc.
