Last week, a Xiaomi device dubbed as Redmi 2 Pro did a round of the rumor mill after it was reportedly leaked as the first device from a Chinese manufacturer to sport Snapdragon 855 chipset and a pop-up camera. However, Redmi GM Lu Weibing debunked the leaked image and suggested that there is a phone with SDM855 in the works, however, it wouldn’t have a pop-up front camera setup as shown.

Historically speaking, a said device “Redmi Pro 2” has been doing rounds of the internet since 2017, however, we are yet to see even its first glimpse. The device reportedly sports a full-screen thin bezel display with a pop-up front camera while there is a triple camera array at the back with a primary 48MP sensor. However, the image has been debunked and it is not true at all.

Xiaomi is definitely working on a device with Snapdragon 855 that will sport a standard notched front-camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner. It will reportedly feature 48MP sensor that Xiaomi rolled out with quite a number of devices this year including Redmi Note 7 Pro and coincidentally, it is suggested that upcoming Redmi smartphone will act as a successor in terms of specs to Note 7 Pro that released in India and China earlier this year sporting a Snapdragon 675 processor and on the contrary, it will be a successor to Helio X20-powered Xiaomi Redmi Pro that was released in 2016.

Xiaomi is also working on a foldable phone and a 5G device as well so we will have to wait and watch out for upcoming releases that you’ll find here on True-Tech.
